Who is eligible to apply for a grant?
The Robert Lehman Foundation operates exclusively in the field of the visual arts. Grants are made to nonprofit organizations only. The Foundation does not make grants to individuals. Organizations are required to upload a copy of their 501©3 status as part of the application process.
When may I apply for a grant?
The Foundation reviews proposals on a bi-annual basis with fall and spring grant cycles. Proposals to be considered for the fall grant cycle must be uploaded by September 15th. Proposals to be considered for the spring grant meeting must be uploaded by April 1st.
How long after applying for a grant will I receive a decision?
Decisions in the fall grant cycle are generally released by mid-November. Decisions in the spring grant cycle are generally released by mid-June.
What grant amount may I apply for?
The Edwin L. Weisl, Jr. lectureship grants are limited to $7,500 per application.
Grant amounts for exhibitions, art education, and capital projects vary based on the scope of the exhibition, program or project.
